Andréa, laboratory technician

Andrea analyzes industrial water and sludge to identify pollutants and determine the best processes for transporting and treating this waste in complete safety for operators and the environment.

Meeting a curious and dynamic enthusiast

After completing a BTS and a bachelor’s degree on a sandwich course in the testing laboratory at the Séché Environnement site in Changé (53), Andréa chose to pursue her professional adventure there on a permanent contract. She has found her place within this dynamic team, which has always supported her, and she knows that her work will have a positive impact on waste recovery and the preservation of natural resources. “I felt like I was discovering a new profession, I really enjoyed the assignments and I was always encouraged by my colleagues and my manager”, she explains.

Various and essential missions

Andrea’s daily routine is punctuated by analyses of sludge and industrial water. When it comes to sludge, “I coagulate it, flocculate it, filter it, drain it in order to optimize dewatering”, she details. Dehydration is a crucial step in securing transport and optimizing storage of this type of waste.

On the industrial water side, her role is just as strategic. “I work to identify the main pollutants in order to determine the necessary treatments according to the outlets envisaged.”Objective: to return the water to the natural environment without risk to the environment, or to ensure that the water can be reused in an industrial process.”

From Andréa’s analyses depend major technical and economic choices because, on each project, the aim is to reduce risks while controlling costs and maximizing recovery and reuse possibilities

A constantly evolving profession

“In the laboratory, we’re constantly discovering new techniques”, enthuses Andréa, who particularly appreciates the regular exchanges with engineers and technical management. With the recent development of the Group’s activities in the field of industrial water treatment her expertise has been considerably strengthened and diversified.

Proud to be of service

Thanks to Andréa, sludge can often be used as compost or to produce biogas. Water, too, can be recycled thanks to this type of circular economy approach, which eases the pressure on natural resources. “I’m proud to know that my actions contribute to respect for the environment and human safety,” she smiles
