Social and environmental responsibility: 5 commitments

Sustainable finance and responsible growth
That is why since 2018 Séché Environnement has primarily pursued sustainable financing based on “ESG” criteria (Environment, Social, Governance)
- In 2018, Séché Environnement secured a €150M credit faciltiy integrating a number of overarching ESG criteria. This credit facility was replaced in early 2022 and all the targets were achieved in 2022.
- In March 2021, Séché Environnement obtained a €50M loan where the interest rates decrease as the Group gets closer to achieving its targets in terms of becoming energy self-sufficient, reducing the frequency of workplace accidents with lost time and furthering the Act4Nature biodiversity strategy.
- In November 2021, a €300M bond was issued tied to targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions and increase the volume of avoided emissions.
- In March 2022, a pool of banks agreed to give the Group a €200M credit facility tied to three ESG criteria: reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase the volume of emissions avoided by recycling, and reduce the frequency of workplace accidents with lost time and maintain the severity rate under 1.
Alignment with the European taxonomy
In order to orient investments toward activities that have a positive impact on the environment, the European Union drew up a taxonomy. Activities are considered “sustainable” if they significantly contribute to at least one of the six objectives set out in the taxonomy:
- Climate change mitigation
- Climate change adaptation
- The sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources
- The transition to a circular economy
- Pollution prevention and control
- The protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems
In anticipation of the regulatory requirements in relation to the non-financial performance statement, we calculated that 69.71% of revenue, 37.46% of CAPEX and 64.94% of OPEX are aligned with the European objectives.
