Waste to energy
Protecting the environment
Waste, once compacted, is installed in perfectly sealed “casiers” or “cells”, isolating the waste from the environment and in particular from groundwater. Liquid effluents, known as “leachate”, are pumped, stored and treated before being released
Producing energy
Waste is partly composed of organic matter which, as it degrades, naturally produces methane. We collect this biogas with its high global warming potential to avoid any environmental impact, but also because it constitutes a valuable alternative energy source to fossil fuels. Currently valorized in the form of electricity, from 2023 it will be injected directly into the gas network
Our team is also responsible for monitoring the quality of ambient air, as well as all water present on the site (groundwater, rainwater, leachates, process water). Particularly committed to the preservation of biodiversity, it is gradually rehabilitating the storage areas, taking into account the dominant species and monitoring the flora and fauna. This approach is certified by Ecocert
We have also launched a program to rehabilitate particularly old storage areas: waste is extracted from them, then sorted and directed towards the appropriate recovery and treatment channels using the best landfill mining techniques.

Preserving biodiversity
For over 10 years, we have integrated biodiversity as a major component of our corporate strategy. We practice late mowing and pay particular attention to the local species that contribute to the richness of the land. Results: on our site, we count 70 species of birds and 50 self-produced plants, thanks to 5 000 m² of land sown and 100 trees and shrubs planted.
