MAXIBROME, an innovation for regenerating bromine

Bromine is a natural resource, which is extracted from sea or salt lake water.
In Europe, bromine is mainly imported from the Dead Sea region.
Bromine is widely used as a synthesis intermediate in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries and is involved in manufacturing countless products.
These industrial processes generate hazardous liquid waste known as bromine-bearing brines.
Our innovative Maxibrome solution turns this waste into new resources.
Delivering real technical, economic and environmental performance, Maxibrome is capable of recovering 99% of the used bromine.
Waste containing bromine is heated to 900°. The water evaporates, the bromine salts form solid particles, and the organic pollutants are destroyed through incineration.
Bromine salts are then recovered by washing the cooled flue gases with water.
They dissolve in new brine, which is purified and concentrated.
The flue gas is subjected to a new purification process to guarantee its safety.
This innovation is part of a circular economy strategy that preserves natural resources and reduces environmental impacts.
Recycling one ton of bromine generates 20 times less greenhouse gas emissions on average and uses up to 3,000 times less water than producing virgin bromine.
Maxibrome’s new regeneration capacities can fulfil more than one third of French bromine demand.
A welcome solution for securing and diversifying supplies for European industry.
Maxibrome improves the prospect of relocating and maintaining industrial activities in France and Europe, with the added bonus of lowering production costs and reducing the environmental footprint.
Thanks to the commitment of the Séché Environnement Group’s Research & Development teams, Trédi is now the world’s leading player in bromine regeneration.
Together, let’s decarbonize the economy.
